What sparked the idea
The idea came from someone close to me who avoids public restrooms because of a fear of germs.
It made me think about how uncomfortable and unhygienic many shared bathrooms still are, even though we know better today.
I found it so interesting that nothing has changed design wise to make our day to day better. Bathrooms really does not makes sense. The one at home looks exactly the same as the one that is shared by countless of others. so I got irritated that we still use our hands to open and close the toilet lid.
That’s when I decided to do something about it. Lets just make everyones day better.
It’s a mess
The fact that we still use our hands to open and close the toilet with our hands is weird when you think about it.
The biggest difference is that it’s a shared space, the design needs to adapt to the fact that a lot of users share one space.
The mission
It’s is simple, make restroom visits smooth, easy, hygienic and sustainable as possible. Invent products that just makes sense, products made to enhance the user experience and lower the cost per toilet visit.
How & why
Footup is a new Swedish company focused on innovating easy-to-use products to make everyone’s life better and more hygienic. Think about how much paper is used just to touch objects in the bathroom, let’s change that. Let’s rethink how to create the best possible experience for bathroom visitors, while also saving the paper that overflows trash bins and spills onto the floor.
